Hi Lisa
Tried to leave a message in the website email but couldn’t. Just started a project getting to know my Great Grandmother Evelyn Maud Fisher and her life story. I live in Australia and my Grandmother is Faith Templer who immigrated to Australia in the 60’s. She was born in Ceylon.
So pleased to find your website and hope to share findings as the story unfolds.
Regards

Hi Jo
My grandfather was Basil (known to us as Simon). He was Faithโs older brother. I have met some of your family – mum and dad (Wendy and Alex) also visited the Perth family awhile back. And my brother Michael. Most recently my Nephew Oscar was visiting.
I actually met Evelyn and have some fond memories of her. Mum used her address so that I could be born at her local hospital – Queen Charlotteโs in Hammersmith – way back in 1967.
i will send you an email

There is a great facebook group called “Ceylon Genealogy” which has a number of people who know a great deal about the Dutch Burgher community in Sri Lanka and can probably help you. They have been very helpful to me.

Dear Lisa
How great to find your detective work – I have been through the same process and also came to the conclusion that Arthur and Albert Bertram must be the same person.
My connections: Me: Natalie Hug (nee Wearne); Mother Kathleen Moira Wearne (nee Patterson); grandmother Lucy Katharine Patterson (nee Fisher); great grandparents Arthur / Albert Bertram Fisher and CATHERINE ANNE CECILIA STEUART FISHER; great great grandparents William Fisher and Sophie Fisher (nee Lambe) and ANNE CECILIA DUNLOP and RJ Dunlop.
I’d love to get in contact with you to find out more and I can send the other scraps of info I’ve uncovered.
By the way there was a fourth youngest baby born to Albert Bertram and Catherine Anne Cecilia. She was given as an infant to adoptive parents on the trip to Australia. My grandmother Lucy was in touch with her by letters as an adult.
All the best
Natalie-
I’ll send you an email! I have been in touch with one of your cousins.
She mentioned that you had come to a similar conclusion. I actually noticed that one of the biographies of Lord Fisher does list the names. And also I just got hold of Frederick William Fishers “Naval Reminiscences” which has a couple more details about Arthur. I will add them to a new post.I spotted a few of your posts online – I think there is one on tripadvisor and tried to reach out to you there – so very good to see your comment!
Anyway very glad to hear the website was useful. It is very much a work in progress!

It has been a pleasure. Actually writing up the website has really focused the mind and has taken my research up a whole level. I have really enjoyed writing it up these last couple of months. The slower few years just piecing together the tree is finally paying off.
